Meet Marya
You are your own healer—I simply help you find the way back to yourself.
Her Goal Is To Empower Her Clients:
Marya is a warm, intuitive, and grounded practitioner who creates a compassionate space for others to explore and connect with their true selves. Her goal is to help empower her clients- to gain more self-awareness into their psyche, so that they can find release and expansion in whatever challenges they may be facing, as well as break free from patterns no longer serving them. Marya guides their clients in a gentle yet profound way through art, voice, movement, breath, and other modalities, that organically allow a person to unfold, open-up and grow in their own time.

She Integrates Highly-Respected Therapeutic Practices:
Drawing from both psychodynamic and person-centred therapeutic approaches, Marya honours the uniqueness of each person's journey and the importance of holding space with presence and care. Marya draws a lot of her work from the teachings of Paul Newham- who founded VMT, as-well as foundational thinkers of mind, body, voice and movement therapies such as Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud, Carl Rogers, Stanley Rosenburg, Alexander Lowen, Frederick Alexander, Paul Moses, Norma Canner, Janet Adler and more.

She Gets You Into Your Body:
Her guiding mantra is: “Move out of your head, and into your body” inviting the whole body, including the voice into the healing process, revealing insights that the thinking mind may not be capable to do alone.

She Is Welcoming, Accepting & Well-Cultured:
Marya is well-travelled and well-cultured. Seeking authentic cultural experiences, she has lived with indigenous locals in Peru, Mexico, South Africa, Bali, Thailand, Australia, Syria, and more, learning traditional and indigenous forms of song, dance and music. This inspired her to want to work with expressive art therapies, and she welcomes working with clients in their personal language, practices and culture.

Self-Work & Training in VMT:
With nearly 15 years of personal and professional exploration in the fields of energy cultivation, life-coaching, and psychotherapy, Marya’s self-work and path led her to discover Voice Movement Therapy (VMT)—a modality that deeply resonated with her own values and healing journey. Marya was fortunate to be trained in South Africa by Christine Isherwood, Melanie Harold and Lerina Van Rensburg.

Qualifications & Certifications:
She holds a BSc in Psychology and Criminology from Royal Holloway, University of London, as well as a Level 2 NCFE CACHE qualification in Core Counselling Skills. Alongside her private practice, Marya also works as a mental health support worker, supporting individuals in recovery. Marya also has a good level of understanding neurodivergence and welcomes working with people of all backgrounds.

She Will Meet You Where You Are:
What Marya finds most powerful about VMT is its intuitive, adaptable, accepting, and deeply personalised nature. Each session is entirely unique, meeting the client exactly where they are—making this work accessible and meaningful for people from all walks of life.

Work With Her:
Marya is based in Brighton and Hove, in East Sussex (UK), and currently offers 1:1 private sessions for adults and young-people, as well as group workshops in academic, corporate and therapeutic settings.
